Comincio subito con un ricordo (ne ‘sto post me sa che ne sparerò un bel po’…).
Estate del 1999, pieno agosto, Roma deserta. Si muore. Io e Filippo verso le 11:00 di mattina (col fresco) inforchiamo il Duetto del Glauco, in uno dei rarissimi periodi in cui non era fermo perché incidentato, e partiamo per Avezzano. Ad aspettarci c’è una nutrita delegazione della mia famiglia. I più non conoscono Filippo, a cominciare dal patriarca, nonno Guido. Il povero nonno è alla fine, pelle e ossa, mancano ancora solo due anni e si regge in piedi a stento, ma è su di giri, perché “Arriva Marco con un amico”. Passato il viadotto e l’uscita per Tagliacozzo, sul discesone che porta al Torano, la Duetto, improvvisamente, si spegne.
Lo sapete che ora che ci penso mi sa che era proprio Ferragosto? Si si, il 15 agosto del 1999 (i ricordi se li incaselli nel calendario valgono doppio, #sapevatelo). Probabilmente c’erano 40 C°, ma noi ne percepivamo almeno cinquanta! Le infradito si incollavano all’asfalto e nonostante fossimo andati a due pijotte scappottati e con le camicie aperte, eravamo fradici. Raggiungiamo la torretta dell’SOS e suoniamo, niente. Ancora. Niente. Filippo ce se attacca come ai campanelli con lo scotch, e a un certo punto: “Ahòòòò, ma che t’attacchi a fa?!”. A quel punto nel giro di pochi secondi, forse un paio di minuti, siamo riusciti a mentire a tutte le domande che uscivano da quel coso incandescente, tanto che capimmo che ci avrebbero mandato, di lì a poco, un carro attrezzi, un’ambulanza, la fluviale e pure un paio di motovedette della guardia costiera. E’ stato in quel momento che ci siamo resi conto di aver esagerato ed abbiamo provato a far ripartire la macchina. Riuscendoci. Ripartimmo sgommando, mentre nello specchietto in lontananza si materializzava quell’esercito di soccorsi ai quali avevamo fatto saltare il pranzo di ferragosto. Pranzo che a noi ci attendeva ad Avezzano, sotto il portico, con il tavolone da ping pong apparecchiato per l’occasione. Più di venti persone sedute. Il capotavola era da sempre del patriarca, ma col tavolone i posti diventavano due ed era il nonno a decidere chi si sarebbe seduto al suo fianco. Di solito io. Ma vedendo la mole di Filippo, nonno Gu, incuriosito ed ospitale, propose a lui di sedersi lì. Io negli anni avevo ovviamente provveduto a pompare, non senza esagerare, il mito del Commendatore Guido Frejaville dé Marigny, ma Filippo non mi parve granché impacciato. E non sembrò a disagio neanche quando prese la parola mia nonna, prima di cominciare a mangiare: “Silenzio! Ora un momento di raccoglimento per il nostro piccolo Emanuele che si trova in viaggio in Cina in questo momento. Diciamo una preghiera tutti insieme per lui, affinché il Signore lo protegga”. Filippo non si fece accorgere, credo, e si voltò verso di me che gli stavo seduto vicino parlandomi sotto voce (per quanto difficile gli sia sempre riuscito parlare sottovoce): “A’ Ma’, ma fàmme capì ‘na cosa. So’ quasi le tre, c’ho ‘na fame carogna, sta tutto sùr tavolo…e dovémo aspettà perché bisogna pregà pe’ tu’ fratello che, a differenza tua che stai qui a schiumà, sta in Cina, probabilmente a scopàsse ‘na quàrche geisha de infima categoria?!”. “Filippo hai bisogno di qualcosa?” gli chiese mia nonna, “Nulla signora, dicevo a Marco che la parmigiana dev’essere buonissima!”.
Quando uno ha la fortuna di avere tanti amici (occhio che inizia il rhetorical-moment) è difficile fare classifiche o preferenze. Ma percepire negli anni quali sono le caratteristiche che apprezzi in quelli a cui ti accompagni più spesso e volentieri, è cosa automatica.
Ho conosciuto Filippo nel 1994, già diplomati, mai laureati. Cominciavamo ad essere più indipendenti, anche se io avevo ancora le idee parecchio confuse e l’incontro con il Mannippo fu una benedizione in questo senso. Perché mi cambiò la vita. Per sempre. In meglio.
Se è vero che ci vorrebbe un blog solo per commentare ogni singolo passo di tutte le canzoni di Lucio Dalla, è anche vero che potrei curare un blog che parlasse solo di tutte le cose che ho fatto con Filippo. Va da se che un post non basterà.
Ma l’estate del 1996 non posso non citarla. Quella dell’InterRail, di quel viaggio indimenticabile che servì semplicemente a sancire che avevo trovato l’amico ideale. Partimmo in nove, arrivammo in tre. Senza di lui. Prendemmo 33 treni in 23 giorni. Roma, Parigi, Calais, Dover, Londra, Plymouth, ancora Londra, Tours, tutta la Loira, Bordeaux, San Sebastian, Zarautz, Barcellona, Roma. Non rivedrò più tanti posti tutti insieme. E quando il viaggio finì sapevo che non sarei mai stato più così spensierato. Ma ero felice. Perché avevo trovato quello che ogni primogenito cerca con angoscia e disperazione dal primo momento che viene al mondo.
Un fratello maggiore.
Filippo sa perfettamente che ci sono amici con i quali mi confido meglio, amici con i quali parlo di me con meno difficoltà e probabilmente è consapevole anche che tutto il tempo che abbiamo passato insieme non è stato, tutto, tempo da tripla A. Ma è questo che lo rende speciale rispetto a chiunque altro. Perché con Filippo ci siamo annoiati insieme per ore, anche per periodi veramente lunghi. Penso ad estati romane improbabili ad esempio. Ma siamo sempre riusciti a ridere. Ridere, ridere e ridere, mentre ci annoiavamo. Non c’è stupefacente o droga che tenga (anche se co’ ‘na bella canna il tutto riesce ancora meglio). Siamo stati Re. Lui lo era già, e mi incoronò. Era la fine degli anni ’90, Campo de Fiori, il lago di Martignano, la Feniglia, via Adamoli 35, il Mundialito…Ricordo quei luglio incandescenti, si partiva alle undici di sera per Campo, al nasone c’era lo spazio per noi e lui era imbarazzante, conosceva tutti: “Beeeeella Mannippo!…Anvedi, ce sta pure er Kraven” (io avevo un look discutibile all’epoca), e facevamo le due di notte senza fare nulla, o meglio, facendo la cosa che ci è sempre riuscita meglio. Raccontare. Lui, però, è il maestro assoluto.
Filippo può parlare di qualsiasi cosa, per ore. E’ come me, ma mejo. Sa un po’ di tutto e se non sa, inventa. Ma tu mentre lui parla, non te ne accorgi. Semmai ci pensi dopo, ma è tardi ed hai già goduto del racconto. Del resto cos’è meglio: sapere tutto ed essere incapaci a comunicarlo? O non sapere un cazzo di niente, ma tenere banco per ore? Beh, la gente preferisce quelli che tengono banco. Ed allora eccolo lì, in riva al lago di Martignano, quando da Bologna arrivavano carrettate di amiche mie, fiche, ricche e simpatiche, che non avevano mai visto un Mannippo. Ce provava co’ tutte e tutte abboccavano. Con un paio me sa che ha fatto pure goal, ma questa, magari, è un’altra storia. Ai bolognesi è sempre andato a genio, lo adoravano. Lo adorano. Ricordo un’estate in Grecia, portai il mitico Illo. Alla fine del viaggio un altro po’ si metteva a piangere, non voleva lasciarci, non voleva lasciare Filippo. Quella settimana, tutte le sere, al tramonto, ci mettevamo in circolo intorno a lui in acqua e ci faceva il monologo di Grommet in “Point Break”. Pazzesco.
Come nel ’98, quando vinse il suo primo ed unico Mundialito. Guidava il Liverpool ed erano dopati fino al midollo, ma vinsero con merito. Era la prima volta che non vinceva una squadra capitanata da uno dei fratelli De Amicis. Lui ricevette la coppa e prima di alzarla guardò me, Lele e Nicola e disse: “La coppa resta in famiglia. Perché voi, siete la mia famiglia”. Era sincero e si commossero in parecchi. Sempre ad Avezzano, decine, centinaia di volte, con “Live From Mars” in sottofondo, a rollarsi anche i pezzi di tappeto, col Montenegro sempre a portata di mano, profanando negli anni quello che è diventato il buen retiro di molti dei nostri amici, ma che ha visto in lui una sorta di mastro di chiavi. Lui, l’unico capace di dire a Maura che c’era qualcosa che non andava, che quelle basette sopra l’orecchio erano il sintomo di una diversità che lui stesso doveva accettare. Per ultimo, perché noi l’avevamo capito tutti da un pezzo e c’era poco da prendersi in giro. Che gruppo che mettemmo su. Lo sciallo era assicurato. Io e lui eravamo i senatori, poi c’erano il Cobra, lo Specialista e Carlone, il triumvirato e sotto tanti altri.
E rieccoci insieme dal Roscio a Capalbio, con questa strana amica di Leo: “Sai Latoja è bravissima con i piedi, sa anche fare le canne…!” e lui, sempre sottovoce, verso di me: “Ah sii?! e io me dovrei mètte in bocca ‘na canna che quella s’è rollata coi piedi? Ma hai visto quanto so’ neri, cazzo?! Che sozzuria!”. E quell’altra volta che l’amica dèr Palla, la figlia di quel banchiere famoso, si presentò co’ sto mezzo tedesco che, giuro, nun capiva ‘ncazzo de gnente, rideva e basta. E s’era fissato co’ sta “Biazza del Bobolo”. Ce voleva annà a tutti i costi, ma non se riusciva a spiegà, manco in inglese. Una serata che quando finì ce faceva male la testa a tutti e due. Insomma ad un certo punto Filippo si spazientisce e comincia a chiamarlo “Mambo Sausage”, non ricordo se perché gli aveva visto il pacco o perché, in quanto tedesco, gli ricordava i wurstel. Fatto sta che ancora oggi, a distanza di anni, quando giriamo insieme con gli scooter per Roma e ci fermiamo ad un semaforo, io mi volto, lo guardo e gli urlo: “Sgusa, ber Biazza del Bobolo?” e lui me guarda, fa un bel respiro, e mi urla a sua volta: “A’ Mambo Sausage, mavatteneaffanculova’!!!”.
E poi gli anni di zio ‘Ippo, gli anni più difficili per me, dove è stato la mia ancora di salvezza. Quando pensi che tutto sia sbagliato, a volte, in quei momenti più difficili di altri, hai si bisogno di confidarti con qualcuno, ma hai anche tanto bisogno di farti due risate come si deve. E allora me lo chiamavo, o mi chiamava lui, e giù ancora con i ricordi. Se a casa era dura ed i bimbi erano impegnativi, mi chiudevo in bagno, lo chiamavo e gli chiedevo di raccontarmi, ancora una volta, com’era possibile che le tette di quella nostra amica fossero così grosse quella sera a Tours nell’estate del ’96, in quella promiscua stanza di albergo (a ore) dove il viso di Marilyn della sua maglietta sembrava, proprio perché a ridosso del seno, il faccione di Nadia Rinaldi. E lui, puntuale tutte le volte: “Ma se già c’hai le tette grosse, e sei pure indisposta, nun te le mètte le majette co’ Marilyn, che poi se te salto addosso e te rimànno a casa co’ le gambe a compasso nun te pòi lamentà!”.
Per non parlare delle serate al The Country di Anguillara. Dove lo stare insieme mi portò addirittura a ballare. Io! Partiva “Around the world” e noi rifacevamo tale e quale il balletto del video, quello con le mummie. C’era pure er Ciccio, quello di Ciccio e Michi, sempre categoria “improbabili amici dèr Palla” (non er Ciccio, per carità. Quell’altro…) e c’erano le donne. Tante donne. E tanta cocaina, mammamia quanta…Ah!Ah!Ah!!!
Vabbè, Amico Mio, mi fermo qui. Potrei spararle ancora più grosse, ma mi fermo qui. Qualcosa è vera, altre, ovviamente, no. Ma chissenefrega, giusto?
Da te ho imparato che non è importante, più di tanto, se quello che racconti è vero. L’importante è che sia almeno credibile e mai offensivo. Se poi fa ridere, l’opera è completa. Ridere è tutto. Beh, quasi tutto. Di certo è una bella cosa che regali a chi ti ascolta. E fa bene alla salute.
Da te ho anche imparato che si può essere amici Veri lo stesso, anche senza calarsi per forza in quelle serate dove è obbligatorio estrapolare il senso della vita per non impazzire. Provando a fare gli intellettuali, noi!?
La vita, a volte, è molto più semplice di quanto sembri. Anche questo l’ho imparato da te. Si campa, si va avanti e ci si prova a divertire. In compagnia.
Altre idee più valide per vivere meglio? Io, personalmente, non penso ce ne siano.
Oggi che fai quarant’anni sei lo stesso di vent’anni fa e in questo sei stato più bravo di me. Io sono invecchiato peggio. Tu sembri ancora quello che mi insegnò ad usare il motorino alla tenera età di vent’anni. Che dovevamo stare seduti in pizzo al sellino, con le ginocchia a prènne più sportelli che se poteva, e avè montata la sella lunga, “pe’ le pischelle”…ne avessimo mai caricata una! Il Sorcio si, quello sempre (ahinoi!). Con i nostri SH50 blu da pariolini, spezzati tutti e due a distanza di poco tempo l’uno dall’altro, come le dune buggy di “Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo”. Ah, del capitolo film non parliamo va’, che ho scritto pure troppo. Fammi citare solo quel colpo di genio che avesti la sera prima del mio matrimonio nella camerata dove stavamo in sedici, se non erro, e c’era qualcuno che girava con la telecamera. E ogni tanto comparivi tu e ti mettevi ad urlare imitando Silvio Muccino in “Ricordati di me” quando attacca i genitori: “Non c’avete capito un cazzo di me!…” con tanto di zeppa replicata. Perfetta. Il tutto così, come spesso abbiamo fatto, senza motivo. Per divertirci. Per vivere.
Scriverei veramente per ore. Peccato che abbia cominciato tardi, un post del genere avrei dovuto iniziare a scriverlo tipo il 3 o il 4 marzo.
Oggi ci sono anche i miei figli, che per te stravedono. Sei il padrino di Guido, ma ti si litigano sempre tutti e tre. Caterina ogni tanto mi sfila il telefono e mi dice: “Chiamiamo zio ‘Ippo?”. Non c’è zio che tenga, se ne sono accorti, il telefono lo associano a te, per le migliaia di ore che abbiamo passato a cazzeggiare al cellulare e, diciamolo pure (senza dirlo), a fare osservazioni oscene, ma mai volgari, su amiche, amanti, compagne, socie, colleghe, così, tanto per ridere a bocca aperta, facendo respirare il cervello (e quasi mai l’uccello).
Io, lo sai, la meno sempre con la mia teoria che ‘siamo chi frequentiamo’. Ora, spero che non ti offenderai, ma tu sei l’eccezione che conferma la regola. In tutti questi anni non sono riuscito ad essere come te, neanche un po’. La verità è che non ci ho mai neanche provato. Mi sono divertito talmente tanto insieme a te, che non mi è mai venuto di “apprendere” le cose buone tue e farle mie (e ce ne sono di cose buone. Ce ne sono). E il motivo, ho capito con il tempo, è stato uno solo. Non voglio diventare un po’ te, semplicemente perché non voglio pensare mai di poter fare a meno di te. La mia testa si rifiuta di immaginare un me senza te. O tutto, o niente. O insieme, o morte (che idea per l’ennesima frase del cazzo da tatuarti, eh!?). Continueremo a fare la nostra storia. E passeremo alla storia insieme, ci immortaleranno nei libri. Come in quel quadro che mi facesti fotografare a tradimento in quel bellissimo castello della Loira, ricordi?

Il quadro era in verticale ed io puntai in alto per prendere più visi possibili. Le digitali non c’erano ancora e solo una volta ritirate le stampe a Roma mi resi conto di quello che avevi voluto fare.
