Das Wirkungsprinzip eines AKF bleibt unabhängig vom zu reinigenden Objekt unverändert. Der Kohlenstoff kommt als Reduktionsmittel zum Einsatz zur Filtrierung der mechanischen Teile. Zum überwiegenden Teil werden AKF zur Filtration von Luft und Wasser eingesetzt.
