Try removing the whole footpeg and shift assembly from the bike-look on the backside and there should be a bolt that holds the foot peg to that assembly-and your shift lever rotates around the peg,so when you take the bolt out the peg will come off and then you can slide the shift lever of the peg and put your new one on and re assemble.
