I’ve got an essay I wrote for this contest I’m entering (by the force of my US History teacher), and I need to make a poster to go with it. Unfortunately, I am as imaginative as a rock. So I need some help. Here is my essay, can someone please give me some poster ideas?. . *The poster must be hand drawn. It goes on a smallish poster board, but I should be able to edit any ideas to work with my restrictions.*. . . ?Dream. Believe. Succeed. Keeping the Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Alive!?. Every great person who ever did anything worth mentioning EVER had to start somewhere. And I can guarantee that every single great thing that any of those great people did started with one thing- a dream. Nearly everyone has one of these dreams. For many, that dream is the ?American Dream:? Own a house, a car, a steady job, a college diploma, and a loving family. However, some people want more than this simple lifestyle, like Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, or even those like Adolf Hitler or Saddam Hussein. While their ideals and morals may be different, each one had his own dream- to change the world. . Many people have dreams, however, that seem unachievable. Every person remembers back to the days of elementary school, where they would always chatter with their peers on how ?they would be the President,? or a rock star, or a professional sport player. However, the majority of these children do not really believe that that dream will be fulfilled. On the other side of the same coin, there are those few children who honestly do believe that they will be something great- and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. For example, when he was in the fourth grade, Barack Obama?s class was going around and sharing what each student wanted to be when they grew up. When it came to Barack?s turn, he stood up and said loudly and proudly, ?I am going to be the President of the United States!? Now, forty years later, that dream has been realized. . Like President Obama, MLKJ had a dream as well. His dream was for racial equality. Everywhere he looked, he saw nothing but blind segregation between the white and black Americans, with the whites being heavily favored in absolutely every way. As the general public now understands, this was a despicable way to live with our fellow citizens. However, while some saw it then, they did nothing to stop this abuse of our fellow humans. But Martin Luther King Jr. (in the words of the hippies) ?Fought the man, man!? He went against everything society found right, and changed the world, all without performing a single act of violence. This is the way people are supposed to live: violence-free.. MLKJ is not the only nonviolent peace-maker in the world. While they may ?fight? for different reasons, he and people like Gandhi or Malcolm X all did plenty of memorable and amazing things with only words and nonviolent protests. While others like Hitler killed everybody they did not like, it takes a mature, smart person to realize that violence will not solve every problem without a hitch. That is simply a dream that will never be realized.. With the exception of in video games, movies, books, or our wildest dreams, violence in nearly any form is not a very good idea. You can look at every war man has ever fought, and someone always ended up dead. And yet, if the warring parties had simply talked through their differences and stopped being so stubborn (so as to reach a compromise), millions upon millions of lives would have been spared. Look at the bombings on Hiroshima, or anything Chuck Norris does. Countless innocent people die, with no existent good reason other than ?I don?t like you, so I?m going to end your life.? Such an existence is a fruitless one, and brings only death and sorrow. MLKJ saw it. Why don?t the rest of us?.
Normally I don’t read post on blogs, however I would like to say that this write-up very forced me to check out and do so! Your writing taste has been surprised me. Thank you, quite nice post.
