These also begin to frame their work on scales of influence and contribution from the team and to the world. Malcolm Smith’s close association with Ove Arup’s beliefs is deeply embedded in how they practice and what is revealed. Removing the exclusivity of their team’, they are able to draft members from a client body to localize their efforts to fully leverage the invisible drivers of change.’ Their inclusive method of working expands their opportunities beyond architectural interventions, and into seeding greater sustainable impact at levels of policy and taxation, by incentivizing change. Arup’s problem seeking strategies are best viewed as the mapping of performance criteria that begin to frame and prioritize specific long/short term objectives. Objectives become a unified vision that are then tested as scenario planning. This promotes the framing of the appropriate series of objectives that increase the accuracy of the outcomes.
